In the brightness of the night I
seeing a cloudless sky
can’t see the stars. The heavens hide.
I ignore this. I lied.
Now past the walls the water went,
seeing the stars – repent!
The stars may shun us with our lights.
The universe at night –
Unnecessary. Now I know
Priorities below
Urgent! Perhaps are unneeded.
To the grave unheeded
this one will go. “We’re saving you.”
They don’t know what to do.
Your end: dehydration, drowning.
Not stopped by their clowning.
You mortals seek the most basic.
Your heroes can’t face it.
Your leaders are unable to
imagine and dream of you.
So they smile and sympathize
but all their words are lies.
They stood still when they should have ran.
It is a master plan
they were lacking. You pay for it –
the mistakes they did commit –
always did. We just see it now.
It was them we endowed.
Looking back is 20/20
they say. There are plenty
of reasons to doubt. Let's not yet.
In the past leave regret.
Pull together into a whole.
Let’s consider our goal.
We’re faced with this devastation
Let’s condense into a nation.
